UPDATE: Sarnia police investigate fatal pedestrian crash

Sarnia police are looking into the circumstances of a crash involving a pedestrian Friday night.

Police said a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Tashmoo Avenue, just south of Churchill Road, shortly after 10 p.m. A 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result, officers closed the area to both motorists and pedestrians Friday night, however, the area reopened early Saturday morning.

Investigators said the preliminary findings indicate that a southbound vehicle struck the pedestrian who was lying in the roadway.

No charges have been laid as the investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers, to contact Detective Constable Dave Schoch at 519-344-8861 ext. 6121.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
