No charges laid in fatal pedestrian collision

Sarnia police say no charges will be laid following a fatal pedestrian collision earlier this month.

A collision involving a pedestrian was reported on Tashmoo Avenue, just south of Churchill Road on August 20. Police said a southbound vehicle struck a pedestrian who was lying in the roadway.

The deceased was later identified as 37-year-old Joel Burton Williams.

Officers issued a final update on the investigation Tuesday as members of the Criminal Investigation Branch and Traffic Unit completed its investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
