Lambton resident conned in romance scam

A Warwick Township resident is out thousands of dollars after falling victim to an online scam.

Lambton OPP said the individual sent almost $25,000 to someone they met online during a romance scam.

Police said if you're asked by a new acquaintance for money, to run the scenario past a trusted friend or family member.

In 2020, over 42,000 Canadians fell victim to some form of fraud according to Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
