Barrie driver charged in crash near Grand Bend

A 39-year-old driver from Barrie is accused of driving while impaired following a two-vehicle collision north of Grand Bend.

Lambton County OPP said a collision was reported on Bluewater Highway around 11:15 p.m. on September 18.

One of the drivers allegedly fled the scene but was later found. Officers said the accused showed signs of impairment and was arrested as a result.

Police said the driver provided two breath samples above the legal limit at the Lambton OPP detachment.

He was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and failure to remain at the scene of a collision.

The accused was released from police custody but is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on November 22.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
