The Kinsmen Club of Sarnia will officially unveil the new Baxter Park Pergola on Thursday.
An unveiling ceremony, which is open to the public, will start at 10 a.m. at the park, located off Lakeshore Road.
"We wanted to do something that would stand out and this is what we ended up with," said Jack Struck, member of the Kinsmen Club of Sarnia. "It'll be beautiful."
Struck said eventually, the Kinsmen Club looks to have proper landscaping and information about the park around the pergola.
"There's so much history in Baxter Park area," he said. "We have finally found all of this information, we have some beautiful pictures, and we're going to try and put it together. People that walk through Baxter Park, to the pergola, will be able to read a bit about the history that they're sitting in. We just think it's a great thing for the city to be able to see some of the past."
Struck said the club's portion of the project is estimated to be under $3,000 as funds were contributed by different community partners.
