Cocaine seized after driver fails to stop at RIDE checkpoint

Lambton OPP seized over $4,000 worth of cocaine from a suspect who allegedly failed to stop at a RIDE checkpoint October 9.

Police said it happened around 7:20 p.m. on Northville Road in Lambton Shores.

Officers made a traffic stop a short time later, and allegedly spotted cannabis inside the vehicle.

Police said a further search turned up suspected cocaine, and the driver was arrested without incident.

Asher Aslam, 35, of London is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available, failing to stop for police, and driving while under suspension.

The accused was released and will appear in Sarnia court on November 24.
