Sting lose to Rangers in Kitchener

Zak Filak scored the lone goal for the Sarnia Sting in a 5-1 loss in Kitchener Friday.

The Rangers led 1-0 in the first period on a goal from Reid Valade .

Declan McDonnell scored in the second for Kitchener .

Pinelli and Valade scored to open the third period before Filak tallied for the Sting assisted by Ty Voit and Brayden Guy.

Mike Petizian completed the scoring for the Rangers.

"In the third we completely abandoned our game plan," said Sarnia associate coach Michael Haley. "Completely abandoned what we want our identity to be and the scoreboard reflected that at the end of the game."

Sarnia goalie Anson Thornton stopped 33 of 38 shots while Kitchener netminder Pavel Cajon turned aside 24 of 25 shots.

The Sting host the rival London Knights Saturday at 7:00 p.m with the pregame show starting at 6:30 p.m. on 103.9 FM/1070 AM CHOK.

The Knights defeated the Spitfires 5-1 in Windsor Friday.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
