Area homeowners urged to take precautions following break and enters

Homeowners are being strongly urged to secure their residences and vehicles following reports of numerous break and enters.

Lambton OPP and Sarnia police said they've noticed a spike in calls in the Lakeshore Road and Egremont Road areas in Sarnia and Plympton-Wyoming.

OPP Cst. Jamie Bydeley said the recent thefts have been reported on weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Items taken included jewelry, cash, personal identification, game consoles and electronics.

He said suspects have not yet been identified.

Homeowners are urged to secure all doors, windows and vehicles when leaving the house, and install crime deterrent devices such as an alarm system and surveillance cameras.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Lambton OPP or Crime Stoppers.
