Indiana woman flees border, assaults officer during arrest

A 41-year-old woman from Indiana is facing serious charges after allegedly fleeing the border into Canada at the Blue Water Bridge.

The incident happened on October 23, at around 11:45 p.m.

It's alleged the driver rammed into Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) vehicles and made her way into Point Edward.

The CBSA contacted Lambton OPP and Sarnia police, and the suspect vehicle was located. The driver allegedly assaulted an officer while being placed under arrest.

Alisha Adkins is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief over $5,000, resisting a peace officer, unauthorized possession of a weapon and, assault with intent to resist arrest.

The suspect was being held in custody following a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
