First degree murder charge laid in Corunna woman's death

A Corunna man accused of murdering a 51-year-old woman on New Year's Eve, is now charged with first degree murder.

Shawn Trowbridge was initially charged with second degree murder.

On Thursday, November 4 a first degree murder charge was laid against the suspect.

First degree murder alleges that the murder was planned and deliberate.

Trowbridge, who was 51 at the time of his arrest in January, has been remanded into custody.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, November 12.

A publication ban was issued on Thursday, protecting the name of the victim.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
