Renovation projects give local building activity a boost

Over a dozen renovation projects helped bolster building activity in Sarnia last month.

City hall issued a total of 50 building permits with a total value over $6.85 million

Included was a $720,000 renovation permit at the YMCA Learning and Career Centre on Oakdale Avenue.

Five permits were issued for single-family homes, on par with October 2020.

To date, city building permits total over $119 million, well above last year's total of $80.7 million.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
