Sting add defenceman in trade with Kingston

The Sarnia Sting have added another defenceman to the mix.

The team has acquired 19-year-old Ethan Ritchie from the Kingston Frontenacs for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2023 OHL draft.

If Ritchie plays next season as an overager, the pick will become a sixth rounder.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca is pleased.

"The addition of Ethan helps provide both leadership and a continued push towards doing the right things both on and off the ice. He is a puck moving defenseman who will push our group to be their best each day. We welcome Ethan and his family to Sting Nation."

Ritchie, an Oakville, ON native, was originally selected by the Erie Otters in the 2018 OHL draft.

He has recorded three goals, six assists and a +6 rating through 46 OHL career games with the Frontenacs.
