Cops For Cans fundraiser returns for its ninth year

Members of the Sarnia Police Service will be stationed at locations around the city this weekend, for a good cause.

The ninth annual Cops for Cans campaign takes place on Saturday, November 20.

Cst. John Sottosanti said the need is great this year.

"Officers will be collecting donations of canned goods and other non-perishable food or essential household items like soap, diapers, and toothpaste," he said. "All items will be donated to The Inn of the Good Shepherd Food Bank which has seen a dramatic increase in the need by members of our community for food and other essentials."

Sottosanti said over 10,000 pounds of items were collected in 2020, and they're hoping to break that record.

Officers will be set up outside Walmart on Quinn Drive, Kyle’s No Frills at Indian Road and Exmouth Street, and the Real Canadian Superstore at London Road and Murphy Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
