Arrest made in Petrolia assault investigation

Lambton OPP have arrested a suspect in connection with an assault in Petrolia that happened in the early morning hours of October 31.

Police and Lambton EMS were called to a residence on Grove Street at 1 a.m.

When officers arrived they observed an adult individual with multiple injuries, consistent with an edged weapon. They were treated at a hospital out of town.

On Wednesday, police announced that Justin Porteous, 20, of Petrolia was arrested and charged with assault.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing and police said further updates will be provided when available.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
