A group of four local video gamers is hoping to raise at least $7,000 for youth mental health.
The seventh annual Playing For Charity 24-hour video game marathon kicks off at 2 p.m. Friday at the Imperial City Brew House.
Organizer and COOL 106.3 Morning Show Host Max Major said all proceeds support St. Clair Child and Youth Services.
"They provide addictions counselling and mental health services to youths in our community, and I think that's something that needs to be available." said Major. "Over the past seven years, we've been able to raise close to $20,000. If we could raise $7,000 this year, that would be amazing. Last year, we raised around $5,000 out of my buddy Darryl's basement."
Major said they'll be playing a wide range of games, from NHL 22 to Mario Party to the new Halo game.
"If you're fully vaccinated, you can come out to the Imperial City Brew House," he said. "Some of the games will even be interactive, we'll be projecting it onto the screens and making a night of it."
For every $5 donated, you'll receive a ballot to win a Nintendo Switch OLED.
