Malfunctioning snowblower sparks garage fire

Point Edward Fire and Rescue says a snowblower malfunctioned Monday morning, sparking a garage fire on Village Green Court.

Crews were called to the blaze at around 11:10 a.m.

The fire department said the homeowner had used a fire extinguisher and helped keep the flames from spreading prior to their arrival.

Firefighters were able to knock down and contain the rest of the fire to the garage.

There was no damage to the home but some contents of the garage were destroyed. One of the homeowners was treated by EMS for minor smoke inhalation.
