71 new COVID cases in SL

Sarnia-Lambton's COVID incidence rate has more than doubled for a second straight week.

The rate of infection per 100,000 population climbed to 355 for the week of December 19 to 25, up from 126.3 the week before.

Lambton Public Health reported 71 confirmed cases Wednesday, along with 36 resolved cases.  Active infections are at 532, up 35 from Tuesday, and active outbreaks are at nine, down three.

The health unit has reported 5,291 cases during the pandemic, including 83 COVID-related deaths and 4,676 resolved cases.

Bluewater Health is reporting 17 COVID-positive patients in hospital.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
