Suspect accused of wielding knife at OPP officers

A suspect is accused of wielding a knife at OPP officers after police responded to an assault at a hotel on Venetian Boulevard in Point Edward.

Officers were called to the area on January 2 at around 11:30 p.m.

When police arrived to speak with the suspect, it's alleged the individual exited the room and pointed a knife toward the officers. The accused eventually dropped the knife and was taken into custody.

Morley King, 56, of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation is charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer while carrying a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
