Sarnia man receives six year sentence for newborn's death

A Sarnia man convicted in the 2019 death of his newborn son has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Nathan Watson was initially charged with second degree murder in August 2020 in the death of Liam Watson.  He pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges last year.

On Wednesday, Justice Deborah Austin sentenced Watson to serve 67 months in prison -- the sentence was 72 months prior to pre-sentence custody being applied.

Watson, who was 20-years-old when he was charged, was also given a 10 year weapons prohibition order, as well as a DNA order.
