Sting acquire defenceman from Hamilton

The Sarnia Sting have made a trade, acquiring 18-year-old defenceman Chandler Romeo from the Hamilton Bulldogs in exchange for a 2022 second round draft pick and a third round pick in 2023.

The Cambridge, Ontario native had a goal and eight assists through his first 28 games in the Ontario Hockey League, all of which were played with Hamilton this season.

The 6'5" blueliner was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft last spring.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca is happy to welcome Romeo to the team.

"Chandler is a player we have targeted since his draft year. He has great presence and range and skates extremely well. He is a competitive player who’s motivated and has elite character. We see tremendous upside to Chandler's game and are thrilled to welcome him as well as the Romeo family to Sarnia."

The Sarnia Sting's next scheduled game is Saturday night at home to the Flint Firebirds.

You can hear every game live on CHOK with Leigh Cunningham and Patrick DesRochers.
