Active COVID-19 outbreaks increase to 12

Lambton Public Health has reported three additional active COVID-19 outbreaks in the region, which brings the total up to 12.

Bluewater Health announced an outbreak on Friday at the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit in Sarnia.

It's unknown where the other latest outbreaks have been declared but additional details are expected to be posted to the health unit's website on Monday.

Lambton Public Health also reported 168 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. However, with 241 resolved cases, the active case count has decreased to 1,295.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 6,867 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton and 5,486 resolved cases.

The local death toll on the health unit's website has increased to 88. However, Bluewater Health reported the two latest deaths on Friday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
