Former Sarnia goalie remembered

A Sarnia man whose resume included time in the NHL has passed away.

Robert "Robbie" Moore, 67, died on Friday, January 7.

Moore played in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals from 1978 to 1984.  He also played a season with the Sarnia Bees from 1971 to 1972.

In a tweet, the Flyers said the former goaltender helped the club reach the playoffs in the 1979 season, with two shutouts in just five regular season games.

Moore also played for the University of Michigan from 1972 to 1976, and held the NCAA hockey record for most saves by a goaltender.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
