Hospital hit with eighth outbreak of COVID pandemic

Another COVID-19 outbreak is being reported at Sarnia's hospital.

Bluewater Health (BWH), in consultation with Lambton Public Health, declared an outbreak in the hospital's Surgical B Unit Friday.

BWH Communications Chief Julia Oosterman said it involves six COVID-positive patients and four infectious staff.

There are now two active outbreaks at the Sarnia site, including one reported in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit January 7.  Oosterman said both outbreaks are expected to end January 24.

As of Friday, Bluewater Health had 41 COVID-positive patients in hospital.

Over the course of the pandemic, eight COVID outbreaks have been declared at the Sarnia hospital.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
