Cold weather alert for Sarnia-Lambton

A cold weather alert has been issued for Sarnia-Lambton.

It's the first alert of the winter season put in place by Lambton's medical officer of health.

The alert will remain in effect until Saturday, January 22, with overnight lows expected to meet the threshold of -15 C, 5 F.

The health unit said overexposure to cold temperatures can be hazardous and can lead to frostbite and hypothermia.

Symptoms can include pale skin, confusion, hallucinations and excessive shivering.

Residents are advised to dress in layers and shield exposed areas, including the neck and face, from the cold wind and limit time spent outdoors, especially at night.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
