Teamwork helps put out structure fire in rural area

It took a team effort on Friday to extinguish a structure fire on Stewardson Road in Plympton-Wyoming.

Fire Chief Darryl Thompson said crews were called Friday morning and found a fully involved garage/ shed fire upon arrival.

"The roof was compromised so we didn't make entry and we [approached] it from a defensive attack," said Thompson.

Hydrants were not available due to the rural location so water was shuttled in by tankers with support from Warwick and Watford stations.

"They mixed in absolutely seamlessly with the tanker shuttle and assisted us," said Thompson. "We had about four or five different crews on scene fighting the fire."

A damage estimate was not determined as of Saturday morning but Thompson said the value is not enough to contact the Ontario Fire Marshal's office.

The cause of the blaze is undetermined.

The PWFD Camlachie Association posted about the fire on Facebook. "Always thankful for the support and great teamwork," read the post.
