Local COVID deaths up 25 in 2022

Sarnia-Lambton's health unit reported the community's 25th COVID-related death of 2022 on Sunday.

Lambton Public Health has now tallied 108 deaths during the pandemic.  Details about the latest fatality were not immediately available.

There have been a total of 8,801 confirmed cases locally, up 42 from Saturday.  The number of resolved cases increased by 15 and now sits at 8,309.  Active cases are at 385 and active outbreaks remain unchanged at 13.

Bluewater Health has 34 COVID-positive patients in hospital -- 21 are vaccinated against the virus, the remainder are partially vaccinated or unvaccinated.  There are five COVID patients in the ICU.  On Saturday, the Sarnia site was treating 39 patients with the virus, including four in the ICU.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
