COVID hospitalizations dropping in SL

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations at Bluewater Health has dropped below 20.

There are 19 positive patients at the Sarnia hospital, down from 21 on Sunday. Three of the patients are in intensive care.  Just under three weeks ago, the hospital was treating 59 COVID-positive patients.

On its website, Bluewater Health said of those confirmed to have the virus, 15 are vaccinated and four are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

Lambton Public Health reported 38 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, as well as 52 resolved cases, lowering the number of known active infections by 14 to 263.

There are six active outbreaks, unchanged from Sunday.

Since March 2020, there have been 9,171 confirmed cases, 8,796 recoveries and 112 related deaths in Sarnia-Lambton.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
