COVID deaths up two in SL

The local COVID-19 death toll has increased to 118.

In its daily update, Lambton Public Health reported two more deaths linked to the virus. The latest deaths were an individual in their 70s who died at a London hospital, and a person in their 90s who died in hospital in South Huron.

The health unit reported 72 more lab confirmed cases of the virus and 51 resolved cases, increasing the number of known active infections by 19 to 256.

There are six institutional and workplace outbreaks, unchanged from Wednesday.

Bluewater Health has 16 COVID-positive patients in hospital, up from 14, two are in intensive care.

Since March 2020, there have been 9,347 confirmed cases in Sarnia-Lambton, of which 8,973 have been deemed resolved.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
