Sarnia police seized roughly $2,900 worth of suspected meth and arrested two people following a traffic stop early Thursday.

At around 1:25 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle in the area of Overlea Crescent and Cardiff Drive.

Police said a passenger in the rear seat was identified as a suspect wanted on two outstanding warrants. Levi James Hayes, 35, of Sarnia was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation led to the discovery of a backpack containing 36.3 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, leading to a second arrest being made.

Hayes and Carisa Joelle Walsh, 31, of Sarnia are each charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both accused were being held pending a bail hearing.
