Crypto company comes to Sarnia

A global Bitcoin mining and crypto tech company has set up shop in Sarnia.

Bitfury Group announced the launch of its new 28MW digital asset mining data center on Tuesday.

In a media release, the company said the facility has commenced operations with expected capacity of 16MW by the end of February and an additional 12MW of capacity to be completed by the end of May.

"As one of the industry's first and most established Bitcoin miners, we are pleased to continue to expand our operations with the launch of our state-of-the-art facility in Sarnia," said CEO Brian Brooks.

The Bitfury Group has its headquarters in Amsterdam and a presence in the United Kingdom, Canada and several other countries around the world.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
