SIU investigates injury during arrest

Ontario's police watchdog is investigating an incident in St. Clair Township.

It happened early Wednesday morning on Courtright Line.

According to a tweet by West Region OPP, an individual was hurt while being taken into police custody.

The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and further details about the incident were not immediately available.

The SIU is arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
