New apartment building permit boosts Sarnia construction totals

Sarnia's building totals received a big boost in February.

A $14.5 million permit was issued for a mid-rise apartment complex at the London Road Shopping Centre.

Construction of the six-storey building is expected to take just over a year to complete.

There were 29 permits issued by city hall in February, on par with last year's pace.

The year-to-date total is over $22.6 million compared to $14.3 million in the first two months of 2021.

Three permits were issued last month for single-family homes for a yearly total of 11, compared to 21 at the end of February last year.
