Traffic stop near Forest leads to drugs, weapons charges

Provincial police in Lambton County dealt charges against a man during a traffic stop near Forest.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers observed a man last Sunday afternoon, who had warrants out for his arrest, get into a vehicle in Forest and travel out of town.

Shortly after, police stopped the vehicle on West Ipperwash Road and took the suspect into custody without incident.

During a search, OPP say they seized suspected methamphetamine and several prohibited weapons.

As a result, a 28-year-old man from Kettle and Stony Point First Nation faces charges including, possession of a schedule I substance, two counts possession of a prohibited device and two counts of possession on a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court to respond to the charges on April 20.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
