Sarnia man to be sentenced in 2021 homicide

A Sarnia man charged in the first of a string of homicides in 2021 has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Timothy Noj was initially charged with second degree murder in the death of Luis Enrique Hernandez, 26, of Sarnia, last January.

Noj, who was 32 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of the lesser charge Tuesday and was subsequently released on bail. He will be sentenced in the Ontario Court of Justice April 19.

At about 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2021 police responded to a residence in a row house complex in the 900 block of Confederation Street, just east of Indian Road. An injured man needing medical attention was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police launched a homicide investigation, the first of four in January 2021, leading to the arrest of Noj a few days later.

A Sarnia man charged in one of the other three homicides pleaded guilty to second degree murder last week. Joseph DiCarlo, 46, will be sentenced on May 26.
