The Spirit edge the Sting in Saginaw

The Sarnia Sting lost 5-4 to the Spirit in Saginaw Saturday.

Charlie Fink and Brayden Hislop opened the scoring for Saginaw in the first period before Nolan Burke (33) scored at 18:41 of the period assisted by Marko Sikic and Theo Hill.

Calem Mangone made it 3-1 Spirit at 1:12 of the second period.

Then Ethan Ritchie (12) scored an unassisted goal for Sarnia followed by the Sting's Easton Wainwright's (6) goal with assists going to Angus MacDonnell and Zach Filak to make it 3-3 .

The Spirit would take the lead on a power play from Mitchell Smith in the third period.

The Sting's Ryan Mast (8) would tie the game on the power play assisted by Andrei Malyavin.

Saginaw's Smith would score the game winner at the ten minute mark.

Anson Thornton made 24 saves for Sarnia while Andrew Oke blocked 17 shots for Saginaw.

Sarnia holds down the eighth and final playoff spot in the OHL's Western Conference by one point over Erie who beat Kitchener 4-3 in overtime.

The Sting visit the Soo Sunday at 4:00 p.m. The pregame show starts at 3:30 p.m. on 103.9 FM - 1070 AM CHOK.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
