Petrolia LTC home declares COVID-19 outbreak

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Lambton Meadowview Villa.

The county announced Thursday that two residents tested positive for COVID-19 and several other residents are experiencing respiratory symptoms.

As per the Ministry of Long-Term Care's guidance, affected residents will be tested.

The long-term care home is working with Lambton Public Health.

"We want to assure the people who live at Lambton Meadowview Villa, their families and our staff, that their health and safety continues to be our top priority," said Long-Term Care Division General Manager Jane Joris. "We continue to conduct thorough, routine staff and visitor testing and ensure protection and prevention measures are in place at the home to keep the people living at the home and our staff safe and healthy.”

There are 125 residents at Lambton Meadowview Villa and the home employs almost 200 staff members.

This is the sixth current outbreak in Sarnia-Lambton. Other outbreaks were previously identified at Ryan's House, Vision Nursing Home, Trillium Villa, Huron House Boys Home and Fairwinds Lodge.
