Over $87K won in Imperial Theatre's March 50/50 draw

A local resident hopes to retire a few years early after winning $87,895 through Imperial Theatre's 50/50 draw.

Jeff Maw won the 50/50 March jackpot. In addition to retiring early, Maw said he would also like to travel south for a vacation.

Funds raised during the March draw have helped the theatre move forward with a dedicated youth program and rehearsal space. Executive Director Brian Austin Jr. said they are a few weeks away from completing the project.

"We are very excited to have a dedicated space to help young people connect with the arts," Austin Jr. said.

As of Thursday, the Imperial Theatre has given away almost $2.2 million in prizes. The 50/50 draw has allowed the local theatre to complete major improvements.

Later this spring, the main doors to the theatre will be completely replaced.

Work to replace the theatre's stage dimmers DMX and lighting network is scheduled for this summer.

The change rooms and green room will also be renovated this summer with new lighting, new countertops, and air purifiers.

April's jackpot is currently over $5,200 and includes an early bird prize of $5,000. Ticket sales for the early bird prize close on April 14.

Tickets are three for $10, 40 for $20, and 200 for $40. This month's lottery runs until May 1 at 11:59 p.m. and the winning number will be drawn on May 2 at 10 a.m. on Facebook Live. Tickets can be purchased online.
