Local fallen soldier remembered

Friday marks 15 years since Cpl. Brent Donald Poland of Camlachie was killed in Afghanistan.

Poland, of the Royal Canadian Regiment, died on April 8, 2007. He was 37 years old.

He and five other soldiers were killed when the armoured vehicle they were in drove over a roadside bomb, read a national defence news release.

Poland was buried at the Brigden Bear Creek Presbyterian Cemetery. He has been remembered in the community during past dedication ceremonies and Remembrance Day services.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
