UPDATE: Fire at Days Inn in Sarnia

Saturday evening Sarnia Fire Rescue attended the scene of a blaze in a ground floor unit at the Days Inn at 505 Harbour Road in Sarnia.

Upon arrival firefighters discovered black smoke and flames emanating from a corner first floor room.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and kept damage only to the room of origin.

No occupants or firefighters were injured during the operation.

Public Education Officer Roel Bus said the cause is determined to be a fan motor that apparently seized inside the heating unit.

Damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $30,000.

The fire is ruled accidental

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
