Former geology professor to represent New Blue Party in Sarnia-Lambton

There will be a local candidate representing the New Blue Party of Ontario in June's election.

Keith Benn was acclaimed as the Sarnia-Lambton candidate during a meeting last month. Benn holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Western University and a Masters of Science from Laval University in Quebec.

Benn worked for 17 years first as an assistant then Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa. He currently works internationally as an independent geological consultant.

The New Blue Party was registered with Elections Ontario in January, 2021. Benn will be running against incumbent Conservative MPP Bob Bailey.

A candidate has yet to be officially declared in Sarnia-Lambton for the Liberals, New Democratic Party (NDP) and the Green Party.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
