LPH reports two COVID-related deaths

Lambton Public Health is reporting two more COVID-19 deaths in Sarnia-Lambton.

The health unit in its update Friday reported the death toll since the start of the pandemic has risen to 140. Both individuals were in their 90s. One passed away at hospital, the other at a long-term care facility.

Since Wednesday's report, there have been 84 new lab confirmed cases of the virus for a total of 11,497 since March 2020. The average number of cases per day over the last seven days is 29.

The number of active outbreaks in congregate settings in the community is unchanged at four.

There are eight COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down from 12 on Wednesday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
