Two names added to local provincial ballot

The Green Party and Populist Party of Ontario (PPO) have both named local candidates for the upcoming provincial election.

Mason Bordeau will carry the Green Party banner in Sarnia-Lambton.

Carla Olson has been nominated as the PPO candidate. Olson, originally from Wallaceburg, has been a small business owner, missionary and is currently working as a nurse.

Conservative MPP Bob Bailey is hoping to be re-elected for a fifth term in June.

He's also being challenged by Liberal candidate Mark Russell, the NDP's Dylan Stelpstra and the New Blue Party's Keith Benn.

The deadline to be nominated as a candidate is 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12.

Ontarians head to the polls on June 2.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
