Environmental response exercise on St. Clair River

Residents may notice some increased activity on the St. Clair River.

The Canadian Coast Guard said an environmental response exercise is being conducted near Walpole Island on Tuesday.

Responders from both Canada and the U.S. will be participating in the exercise, which will simulate a major pollution incident.

Residents may see booms deployed on the river as well as increased Coast Guard presence and marine and air traffic.

The exercise is part of the CANUSLAK agreement between the Canadian and United States Coast Guards.
