Plank Road closed for construction

A section of Plank Road will be closed for approximately two months, beginning Wednesday.

The roadway between Indian Road and McGregor Road will be closed to allow for water main and road construction.

Commuters are asked to use an alternate route as through traffic will not be allowed during construction. However, businesses in the area will remain open during this time.

Construction Manager Robert Williams previously said the city will try to limit traffic interruptions as much as possible.

Phase one of the Plank Road construction project began last month as water main work on Gladwish Drive to feed the system to McGregor Side Road started on April 4.

Plank Road was named Sarnia's "worst road" in 2019 through CAA's annual campaign, however, construction plans were pushed back due to supply issues.
