Shell conducting oil spill training on St. Clair River

Boats, booms and emergency response teams will be taking part in an oil spill exercise on the St. Clair River Wednesday.

The exercise will take place near the Shell Dock at the Manufacturing Centre in Corunna between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

In an email, the Chemical Valley company said this type of training allows them to have confidence in their ability to respond to a real emergency.

Shell also said the oil spill equipment deployment exercise provides an opportunity for continued improvement in their emergency response efforts.

The company said should a real emergency occur during this time, immediate notification will be provided via the regular channels.
