Volunteer firefighters mobilize to battle barn fire (GALLERY)

Volunteer firefighters worked together to extinguish a barn fire southwest of Alvinston Monday afternoon.

Dawn-Euphemia Fire Chief Don Ewing said crews were called to the fully involved structure fire at Brennan Poultry at 7109 Mosside Line, just east of Dobbyn Road near the Sydenham River.

"We had ourselves - Dawn-Euphemia, Brooke-Alvinston and Oil Springs all on scene," Ewing said. "It is a poultry processing plant."

He said there were no injuries and no poultry were lost in the fire, but the cause remains undetermined at this time.

"It will be a total loss. The wind today did not help."

Ewing said it was too early to determine a damage estimate.

The road was closed for a while but reopened by 2 p.m.
