UPDATE: OPP investigate serious Highway 402 crash

A two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning closed a section of the eastbound Highway 402 in Sarnia.

Shortly before 8 a.m., Lambton OPP, EMS and Sarnia Fire and Rescue responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a transport truck in the eastbound lanes of the highway at Modeland Road.

OPP said two people were taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The eastbound highway was closed to traffic at Modeland Road but reopened around 12:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, traffic travelling on the westbound Hwy. 402 was backed up to Airport Road at times Tuesday. Commercial vehicles were waiting about two hours to cross the Blue Water Bridge.

Emergency crews were also called to a second collision on Hwy. 402 Tuesday afternoon.

OPP said a collision involving a passenger vehicle and transport truck was reported around 2:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes.

One person was taken to hospital as a precaution. One of the drivers was charged, however, further details were unavailable.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
