Sarnia fire crews extinguish blaze on Trudeau Drive

The cause of a structure fire late Monday night in Sarnia is under investigation.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue were called to a home in the 200 block of Trudeau Drive just before midnight.

Firefighters arrived to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the home.

All of the occupants escaped uninjured, while one firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the blaze.

Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the other half of the semi-detached home.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.

Monday morning, firefighters responded to a bedroom fire at a home on Roger Street. The fire was quickly extinguished with minimal damage.

Officials said the cause was determined to be an unattended candle.

Sarnia Fire and Rescue reminds residents to never leave candles or cooking unattended.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
