LCCVI to close Friday due to threat concerns

LCCVI in Petrolia will be closed to in-person learning on Friday due to concerns about a potential threat at the school.

The Lambton-Kent District School Board (LKDSB) made the decision on Thursday, in consultation with Ontario Provincial Police.

Students will still attend class Friday, but in a virtual learning format.

The board said threatening graffiti was found in the school at the end of the day on Thursday.

Director of Education John Howitt said they want to give police time to investigate the incident.

"Student and staff safety are a top priority for the LKDSB and we follow the direction of local police regarding matters of school safety," he said.

The LKDSB said it will continue to keep the school community updated regarding this issue.
