Sarnia appoints new city treasurer

The City of Sarnia will have a new treasurer in place next week.

The city announced the retirement of current Treasurer Holly Reynolds on Wednesday.

"Holly has made significant contributions to the city and the senior management team during her almost [five]-year tenure," read a statement from the city.

Effective June 6, Jane Qi will take over as city treasurer.

“I am very excited to take on this role as city treasurer and will strive to build the city’s financial sustainability,” said Qi.

Qi has spent the last 11 years as a financial analyst. The city also said Qi is a CPA (chartered professional accountant), a CA (chartered accountant), and earned an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Laurentian University in 2019.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
